Beautiful photographs along with key points on the screen are good learning cues for visual learners. In addition, they are easier on the eye and much more interesting than “talking heads.”

Please remember:

These are EDUCATIONAL segments.  They are NOT for entertainment.  These samples are from the on-line Portal.  The DVD segments contain the same informational content, but a little less dynamic visual presentation.

Please keep in mind that the segments are designed for volunteers-in-training.  For them, most of the information is unfamiliar, meaning they have to listen, process, and understand the concepts.

The segments are often used for self-study by the volunteer at home during short snippets of time, rather than for hours at one sitting.  Most will watch a segment or two at any one time, then complete the Quizzes & Reflection Questions for those topics.  The DVD segments can also be used in classroom settings - showing a segment and following with discussion or other types of learning experiences.  Additionally, they may be used as “make up” classes for hospices that do all their training in classroom settings.

Most volunteers-in-training find the pace to be acceptable for processing new information and much prefer this custom presentation over classroom lectures.

The segments are to the point but not TMI (too much information) as when hospices use materials created for other groups, such as nurses or nurses aides.  Volunteers do not need or want to be over-loaded with information inappropriate for their roles.

Our materials offer visual, auditory and tactile learning experiences for adult learners.  Key points on the screen,  audible speech, the full text Manual and the Workbook all work together to provide the volunteer-in-training with a unique and custom learning experience.

The segments are a custom educational presentation to be used as the first step in a complete training process.  They provide the foundational or core information that has been traditionally presented through lectures in classroom sessions.  When given a choice, many of today’s volunteers prefer part of their training to be available in a self-study format.

We support coordinators with a SYSTEM that provides a BRIDGE for persons to become dedicated and informed hospice volunteers.
