How to access the ON-Line Training Portal
•Thank you for your interest in becoming a hospice volunteer. Your hospice is providing access to this On-Line Training Portal, saving you valuable time and allowing you to engage in part of your basic orientation at times that are convenient for you!
•Please keep in mind that these are educational segments covering sensitive information, not fast paced thrillers! They may move slowly for some people and just right for others….. but either way, they are more convenient than driving to and sitting in hours of classroom lecture! Plus, there is no risk of the instructor failing to cover the needed information or persons with off the subject questions hogging valuable class time. You will be exposed to a LOT of information in a relatively short period of time.
•At some point you will participate in face to face training experiences. The Portal will provide the basic information that is the foundation of your orientation. You will apply the information presented here through role playing & other interactive type experiences as well as discussion. Consider this the foundational experience needed in order to thoroughly prepare for your volunteer journey.
You are about to begin an exciting opportunity to serve persons of your community. We hope this On-Line Video Portal will make it easier and more convenient for you to begin to understand what hospice care is all about.
We suggest you begin with the Welcome & Mission segments. After that, watch them in any order you prefer.
•The Portal is simple & works like any other on-line video
•Click the ENTER BUTTON to access the On-Line Training Portal.
•Enter the KEY provided by your hospice.
•Enter your personal e-mail address for verification of your identity. This activates your KEY. Please be sure your e-mail is entered correctly the first time.
•Please type your e-mail exactly the same when logging on each time.
•Bookmark the Training Portal address for future visits.
•Enter your KEY and e-mail address accurately each time you access the On-Line Portal.
•Once activated, your personal KEY allows access to the Portal for a specific number of days. Please complete the on-line training before your KEY expires.
•Your hospice coordinator will inform you of the number of access days available.
•Once your KEY and e-mail address have been correctly entered, the Contents page will appear.
•Click on the TITLE of any segment to open the video player. The video will begin to play automatically.

❘❘
•Three controls are located under & to the left of the video player:
Pause / Play Volume Full Screen

•To stop the video and begin a different segment, pause the video & click on the Title of the segment you’d like to watch.
•In addition to the volume control on the video player, use the volume control on your computer.
•Try to complete a segment before ending the session as the Portal will not open to a partially played video when you begin a new session. It will open at the beginning of the segment.
•To end your session, simply close your browser or internet connection.
•We suggest viewing the Welcome & Mission segments first. Then, watch the remaining segments in any order.
•If your hospice provided a Hospice Volunteer Training Series Workbook:
•Complete the Workbook Quiz and set of Reflection Questions as you go along.
•Follow the instructions of your hospice volunteer coordinator regarding how and when to submit your Quizzes and Reflection Questions.
•Note that the Workbook includes key information for each segment. Use the Workbook to jot down questions or additional notes for discussion.
Please READ this information BEFORE proceeding to the On-Line Training Portal. OR, read the On-Line Access handout if one is provided by your Hospice. It contains the same information.
•It is suggested that you have a fast internet connection when viewing on-line video. (Broadband, DSL, Cable) Dial up connections may or may not work well.
•We have attempted to make this on-line video portal as fail-safe as possible! However, any on-line connections are subject to interruptions. Please bear with us if you encounter a problem.
Important:
Please enter your KEY & e-mail address accurately the first time you log in.
Then, enter your e-mail address EXACTLY the same each time you log on. Otherwise, the system will not recognize you!
Typing your e-mail address accurately & the same each time is essential :)
What is a KEY?
A KEY is a license for an individual to view the On-Line Portal segments. It is a five LETTER code that you will enter each time you log in to the Portal.
A KEY is your personal access to the Portal & will work for a certain period of time.
The KEY will countdown the days after you log in the first time. Each KEY is set for a specific number of days access. Your Volunteer Coordinator will tell you how many days you have to complete the required segments.
